AVAILABLE POSITIONS

Automotive Assemblers are responsible for installing various manufactured parts and fitting components onto fire apparatus. You must read and understand blueprints and collect the proper materials needed to start the assembly process. You will also be using power tools, climbing ladders, working on top and under trucks while maintaining a clean and safe working environment. 

Related field experience:

  • Automotive customization
  • Finish carpentry
  • Metal assembly work. 

Examples of duties:

  • Communicate verbally with co-workers to keep a safe working environment
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks
  • Lift light and heavy parts on and off a cart, floor, shelf, etc.
  • Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting
  • Perform drilling, sanding, grinding, and buffing of parts
  • Perform gluing, taping, filing, screwing, tightening, and clamping of parts
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Build and assemble subparts for the following assembly process
  • Check fluids, fuel systems, batteries, and other specific parts/equipment
  • Apply measurement for proper alignment and attachment of parts together
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Check and review checklists, work orders, and schedules
  • Assist co-workers with lifting parts
  • Recognize the differences in parts and tools
  • Sweep and clean shop area
  • Work required hours and have an excellent attendance record
  • Work overtime as needed

Fire Apparatus Manufacturing – Body Shop Team Member

We are a growing shop looking to find experienced body shop employees who have a good understanding of bodywork principles, how to use body filler, how to block sand, and the ability to use air-tools. An ideal candidate would have a broad range of experiences and a strong mechanical aptitude. Related field experience would include automotive customization or collision repair work.

We work on large flat panels that require a fair amount of practice to become proficient at filling and blocking. As a Bodywork and Prep Technician, you will be responsible for grinding, acid washing, and prepping the body for the paint process. Responsibilities will include mixing and applying body filler, sanding with both longboards and mud-hog sanders. Finish sanding primer, caulking seams, masking openings, and occasional color sanding and buffing. Candidates with tools and a roll around tool box are preferred. All applicants must pass a basic math test and pre-employment drug screening. We currently have openings in both day and swing shift positions.

Completion of vocational schooling or a minimum of 1-2 years of similar shop experience preferred.

This is a unique opportunity to make a difference with a growth-oriented OEM fire apparatus and emergency vehicle supplier. You will be the lead documentation resource for the mechanical and electrical engineering teams, providing accurate and timely drafting packages and sustaining support. The ideal candidate is a self starter with significant experience in a contributor role who values attention to detail and productivity in a close-knit team environment.

JOB SKILLS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drawing package creation for engineering team in support of apparatus and vehicle production schedule. Documentation includes but is not limited to bill of materials, layout/overall views, exploded views, assemblies and individual parts.
  • Design apparatus parts, subassemblies, and weldments as required.
  • Documentation control through established release and revision processes
  • Sustaining engineering documentation; processing updates and corrections (‘redlines’)
  • Service and manufacturing drafting or design support as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree (A.S) in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering or related field. Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university a plus.
  • Working knowledge of drafting standards and best practices. Prior experience in documentation control a plus.
  • Proficiency in and recent experience with Solidworks, PDM Enterprise, Draftsight. Significant experience with Solidworks sheetmetal and weldment design tools.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, capable of collaborating as well as working independently to keep the ball moving forward with concurrent priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience in vehicle design, custom fabrication, and in-house manufacturing a plus.
  • CSWA, CSWP, or related professional certifications a plus.

Boise Mobile Equipment is looking to add to our team! We are a new-build fire apparatus manufacturer that specializes in the construction of one of the most durable fire truck bodies in the industry. We build to custom specifications supplied by our customers.

Job Skills / Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabrication of control consoles, wire harness, and support assemblies
  • Building on International, Freightliner, Dodge and Ford platforms
  • Emergency lighting packages and customization
  • Creating relay-based and multi-plexed assemblies
  • OEM Interface and programming

Requirements:

  • Familiarity of basic hand tools and metal working practices
  • Understanding of electrical principles and electrical circuits
  • Understanding of relays, diodes, and switches and the ability to diagnose and test circuits after installation
  • Must pass a basic math test and pre-employment drug screening

Additional Items Considered:

  • Automotive customization/mechanical work, finish carpentry/stereo installation or other layout experience, or some type of metal fabrication work.
  • 1-2 years of working with 12 volt systems or related vocational schooling would be preferred.

This position is full time; Monday through Friday, 6:00 am – 3:30 pm. Unlimited overtime available.

The Laser Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the CNC laser. You must be able to assist with programming parts and performing preventative maintenance. You will be using hand and power tools to complete your tasks while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Job Functions:

  • Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures on laser equipment.
  • Stage raw material to be cut.
  • From engineered DXF files process sheet metal parts.
  • Coordinate with others to complete manufacturing parts.
  • Maintain and control inventory.
  • Maintain all consumables.
  • Maintain and service dust collector.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufactures machine recommendations.
  • Perform some machine alignment procedures and optic cleaning to keep equipment at peak operation performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of G Code

The position of Plumbing Technician is responsible for performing plumbing and welding, and you must be able to assemble parts, install pipe, and weld using the GTAW process. You will be using hand and power tools to complete your tasks while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Examples of duties:

  • Install general plumbing systems and maintain/repair existing plumbing
  • Monitors supply and equipment inventory
  • Welding stainless pipe with the GTAW process
  • Acid washing pipes before install

Knowledge of:

  • Proper safety gear for shop environment
  • Able to use power/air/basic tools (wrenches, punches, etc.)
  • Welding knowledge preferred
  • Ability to read tape measure
  • Basic math skills

Ability to:

  • Interpret blueprints, plans, drawings, schematics, and other data pertaining to the objective
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
