Boise Mobile Equipment consists of two fire apparatus manufacturing facilities in Boise, Idaho. Combined, the facilities employ individuals specializing in auto body, welding, fabrication, electrical, sales and support. We are a growing shop looking to find experienced body shop employees who have a good understanding of bodywork principles, how to use body filler, how to block sand, and the ability to use air-tools. An ideal candidate would have a broad range of experiences and a strong mechanical aptitude. Related field experience would include automotive customization or collision repair work.

We work on large flat panels that require a fair amount of practice to become proficient at filling and blocking. As a Bodywork and Prep Technician, you will be responsible for grinding, acid washing, and prepping the body for the paint process. Responsibilities will include mixing and applying body filler, sanding with both longboards and mud-hog sanders. Finish sanding primer, caulking seams, masking openings, and occasional color sanding and buffing. Candidates with tools and a roll around tool box are preferred. All applicants must pass a basic math test and pre-employment drug screening. We currently have openings in both day and swing shift positions. Completion of vocational schooling or a minimum of 1-2 years of similar shop experience preferred.

Boise Mobile Equipment is a custom fire apparatus manufacturer with over 25 years in the Boise area. We specialize in the fabrication and construction of some of the most durable fire trucks in the industry.

The technician is responsible for maintaining the fleet for clients and to handle service calls at client locations as well as in the BME shop. Provide service to our customers while maintaining exceptional customer service. This can include cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection and removal of parts and attachments. Installation with the help of proper manuals, report writing, disassembly, assembly parts evaluation for reuse and/or reconditioning.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company, customer and regulatory standards.
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair with integrated body and chassis components.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping it clean and making sure required inspections are performed and documented as assigned.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on the body of the apparatus
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle properly stocked.
  • Report to the Service Manager and will be assigned duties on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and be available for an open work schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work required in maintaining diesel engine trucks and associated fire apparatus equipment.
  • Read job order, observe and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
  • Utilize various diagnostic equipment to determine malfunction and utilize available technical information to determine and perform correct repair procedure.
  • Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices on trucks and adjust.
  • Lubricate moving parts and drives on the repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work as requested.
  • Document and submit necessary paperwork or enter into mobile service program as work performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding the work. Foster positive customer relations.
  • Advise customer and/or service writer of any repairs or services which should be performed within the next 3 months.
  • Participate in training and utilize that training in the course of work.
  • 5 years’ experience as a Class 5 – 8 technician a plus.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Have a current and valid CDL and Medical card as required by the FMVS (or be able to get one).
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are a must.
  • Must have or be able to get EVT certification in all three Fire Apparatus Technician levels.

Job Skills / Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabrication of equipment brackets and wire harnesses.

Requirements:

  • Must pass a basic math test and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Understanding of electrical principles and electrical circuits.
  • Understanding of relays, diodes, and switches and the ability to diagnose and test circuits after installation.

Additional items considered:

  • Automotive customization/mechanical work, finish carpentry/stereo installation or other layout experience, or some type of metal fabrication work.
  • 1-2 years of working with 12 volt systems or related vocational schooling would be preferred.

Entry Level Fabricator needed! If you are starting off your career in fabrication and looking for experience, we have a position for you! Boise Mobile Equipment is a custom fire apparatus manufacturer with over 25 years in the Boise area.

Skill Requirements:
You MUST be able to cut metal along with other odd jobs including entry level fabrication.

Additional requirements for the Entry Level Fabricator will include:

  • A strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds (rarely required but could be possible)
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly as well as climb stairs/ladders
  • Ability to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.

Full-time permanent positions are available for assembly, and fabrication. Duties include cutting of aluminum, sheet, plate and structural shapes along with entry fabrication knowledge. Steel & aluminum sawing experience and the ability to read prints is preferred.

Boise Mobile Equipment is expanding production to meet the demands of having been awarded multiple contracts and we are looking to build a team of individuals who possess a variety of skills. We are a new-build fire apparatus manufacturer with over 20 years in the Boise area. We specialize in the construction of one of the most durable fire truck bodies in the industry. We build to custom specifications supplied by our customers.

All experience levels considered as we begin ramping up to meet the growing customer demand.

Fit and Finish Craftsmen (responsible for the design and creation of brackets and overlays; the assembly and final fit of components; related field experience might include automotive customization, finish carpentry, or metal fabrication).

Candidates with tools (a list will be supplied at interview) and a roll around tool box are preferred.

All applicants must pass a basic math test and pre-employment drug screening.

Completion of vocational schooling or a minimum of 1-2 years of similar shop experience preferred.

Compensation varies by position, experience, and candidate’s ability to fulfill tool list requirements at start.

Boise Mobile Equipment is seeking skilled welders with Aluminum TIG as well as MIG steel experience. We are a custom fire apparatus manufacturer with over 25 years in the Boise area. We have openings for skilled craftsmen and experienced personnel for welding and fabrication.

Skill Requirements:
As a Welder, you MUST have welding experience and be able to pass a welding test. We are looking for skilled welders, as our product is a quality product, where the weld is visible and must be visually aesthetic. You must be able to read blue prints.

Additional requirements for the Welder will include:

  • A strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds (rarely required but could be possible)
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly as well as climb stairs/ladders
  • Ability to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
  • Will be required to pass a welding test

Steel & aluminum welding experience and the ability to read prints is preferred. Excellent welding skills are required.
